Dust (solid particles)

Definition

An indicator that describes the concentration of solid particles in air or gases, usually expressed in milligrams per cubic meter (mg/m³) or the number of particles by size fractions.

Importance and Essence

Shows the physical quality of air or gas, which affects health, technological processes and environmental conditions

High dust concentrations can increase the risk of respiratory diseases, promote allergies, reduce visibility, cause equipment wear or contaminate products

Solid particles are often associated with industrial activities, transport, combustion processes or natural phenomena (e.g. wind-borne soil particles)

Where Used

In occupational health and safety assessments (work environment air quality, impact on employees)

In industrial facility control (filtration system efficiency, emission monitoring)

In environmental studies (air pollution assessment, climate impact analysis, public health monitoring)
