Color

Definition

An indicator of the intensity of water color, which is caused by dissolved substances. Expressed in color units (°Hazen or mg Pt/L)

Importance and Essence

Shows water quality and possible chemical or organic contamination
A high color value indicates the presence of humus, metals or industrial pollutants
Color changes are often associated with natural processes (e.g. peat exposure) or anthropogenic pollution

Where Used

In occupational health and safety assessments (drinking water quality, visual quality)
In water control of industrial facilities (food industry, beverage production, technological processes)
In environmental studies (assessment of the condition of water bodies, identification of pollution sources)
