pH

Definition

An indicator that describes the concentration of hydrogen ions (H⁺) in water, expressed in pH units (scale from 0 to 14)

Importance and Essence

Shows the acidity or alkalinity of water, which affects its suitability for domestic, industrial, and ecosystem stability.
A pH that is too low (acidic water) can promote corrosion, dissolve metals, and pose a health hazard.
A pH that is too high (alkaline water) can affect taste, reduce disinfection effectiveness, and disrupt biological processes

Where Used

In occupational health and safety assessments (drinking water quality)
In industrial facility water control (technological processes, boilers, pipelines)
In environmental studies (assessment of water body condition, wastewater analysis)
