Ensuring the environmental noise level of equipment used outdoors

The requirements governing environmental noise emitted by equipment used outdoors have been amended by revising STR 2.01.08:2003, approved by Order No. 325 of the Minister of Environment dated 2003-06-30 ‘On the Approval of STR 2.01.08:2003 “Management of Environmental Noise Emitted by Equipment Used Outdoors”’. The preamble has been amended and STR 2.01.08:2003 has been supplemented with a new Chapter VII1, ‘Specific features of the application of conformity-assessment procedures, placing on the market and market surveillance following activation of the internal market emergency mode’.
The amendments to STR 2.01.08:2003 enter into force on 2026-05-30.

Previously, it was sufficient to demonstrate that environmental noise complied with the limits specified in noise standard HN 33:2026. It is now additionally necessary to demonstrate that the outdoor equipment used complies with STR 2.01.08:2003, meaning that it has a declared sound power level, has undergone conformity assessment and has been lawfully placed on the market. Noise assessment must therefore cover both the immission aspect (the environment) and the emission aspect (the source).
